There are many beautiful locations to serve as the setting for your portrait session in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Depending upon the type of session (family, couple, individual) I'll make recommendations in the area that I think suit you and the style of images you're looking for. Below are some of my favorites along with some suggestions if you're in need of ideas.
Families with Young Children - Parks are a great place to let the kids run around and explore. I try to find locations where everyone in the family can join in on the fun. Giving children an activity takes the focus off the photo session and I usually get great candid images of children interacting with their environment their siblings and their parents.
Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland has a wonderful Children's Garden with kid sized activities to climb in and play with. Agricultural History Farm Park in Gaithersburg has live animals as well as barns and meadows to explore. Cyburn Arboretum in Baltimore has many types of gardens, tree lined paths and hidden bridges.
Couples: The Urban Setting- Parks are a great place for couples too but I like to take advantage of the urban setting. We have so many historic cities and towns in the area so why not take a walk and get some cool city scapes.
Alexandria is a great town to have portraits taken. It's historic, on the water and offers colorful architecture and foliage year round. Mount Vernon in Baltimore is another favorite with cobblestone streets, sprawling plazas and church spires.
Individuals for Business - Hotels are a great place to have professional head shots taken. The interior is tastefully decorated and there is usually a patio, garden or other outdoor location to capture a more natural setting.
