When I got married in 2008 I had a tote bag full of file folders containing every contract, brochure and print out from every vendor I met with.  It was a heavy bag and despite my efforts perpetually unorganized.  I meet with clients all the time carrying large binders stuffed with information or notebooks crammed with folded printouts from the internet.  Hopefully this will help to eliminate some of the wedding clutter.

The online portal contains a copy of the electronic contract, the status of all invoices and questionnaires to help plan the wedding day.  You can easily change contact information, see the status of albums and download planning documents.  I have been using this system for a year and it has completely changed the way I do business and helped me better serve my clients. 

EDUCATION! Post Production: What happens after the shutter snaps

Being a good photographer isn't just about taking a great photo.  Sure you have to know how to use your equipment, be mindful of lighting and composition, not to mention interacting with your subject to tease out those little moments that make an image shine, but that's only half the process.  There are a lot of behind the scenes actions that take place after the shoot to make the images look truly stunning. From editing to Photoshop and everything in between, I spend most of my time as a photographer looking at each and every image to make sure it looks great.  Here are some samples of my post production and why you need to make sure your photographer has got the skills.  

  

IDEAS! Bright ideas for dark spaces - Part 1: At the Church

I just recently met with a couple who was concerned about getting good photos in their dark church.  This is a common concern of clients and photographers alike.  Most churches do not allow flash during the ceremony and most photographers agree that direct flash can be a harsh way to light a portrait.  So what do you do when the ceiling is dark, the spotlights dim and that maroon carpet makes it seem like more of a cave than a place of celebration?  Here are a few examples of how to find the light in those dark spaces.

Who says you have to have your portraits
taken on the alter?  I took the bride and groom
up to the balcony where the only windows
were located.  Natural light fills the foreground
while tungsten light fills the dome.

Don't be afraid of the grain.  Sometimes a
high contrast backlit image can give a
beautiful sense of place.

Most churches have spotlights over the alter.  As long as you slow
down the shutter to bring in the ambient light, you shouldn't lose
the details in the background.
